Geo Zones for Inclusion or Exclusion Zones
What is an Inclusion Zone ?
An inclusion zone is set up if a client is on strict house arrest, or when a patient is confined to a certain home. We place a zone over the property at which the client has to stay. Once that zone is assigned to the ankle bracelet, we will be alarmed in the event the client steps out of the assigned area.
We have options for setting protocols that would tell us what to do in the event of an inclusion violation:
- Call supervising office
- Call Law Enforcement
- Call Caretaker
- Make the alarm on the device sound much like a car alarm
- Call the client directly on the device and ask them to get back into compliance
See Figure 1
What is an Exclusion Zone?
Exclusion Zones designate an area that the client is not allowed to enter. It works opposite of the Inclusion Zone.
Who and what are they used for?
Exclusion Zones are generally used for people who have had multiple dui charges and are ordered to stay away from establishments that serve alcoholic beverages.
Exclusion Zones are also used in the event of a restraining order. We can place assigned areas around the victims home and place of work. If the defendant enters either one of those areas, we can sound the alarm on the device, call law enforcement and any other party involved.
In addition, Exclusion zones are also used when dealing with sex offenders. We would place a stay away rule around playgrounds, schools, etc.
